| Summer festival Showcases area talent MYRTLE CREEK -The 21th Annual Myrtle Creek Summer Festival, Sponsored by the Myrtle Creek Lions Club, was held this past week, July27-30 and showcased local talent throughout all venues of the event. the weather was very cooperative as temeratures remained in the 80s which was very condutive for the enterainers and participants in the three day lon festival events. Thursday nightshowcased local musical talent from the Oldtime fiddlers and County Spice, a local country swing band entertained until 10p.m. Friday's slate was highlighted by musical renditions of Prestone and the Coolants. |

| Parade on Main street Saturdays events started with a Parade on Main street. Saturday was chocked full of events beginning with the parade. Parade organizes said that this year's entries were down from last year but there was still plenty of candy for the little ones. The Myrtle Creek/Tri City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Myrtle Creek Lions Club handed out several awards in seven categories for the parade. The winners were as follows marching, Chrytal Harp, 2nd -Fritz Backen; commercial float, Danna's Creative Kids; non-commercial float, Myrtle Creek Lions, 2nd Douglas County Shriners Club; animals, Alicia Miller. |
The 4x4 Rock Crawl competition is a favorite The 4x4 Rock Crawl competition on the course of boulders in the parking lot across from the covered bridge is a thrill to behold. The annual 4X4 rock crawl event held during the Myrtle Creek Summer Festival saw contestants take part this year. This years winners include: Overall winner Linda Bradshaw, worst break winner Mark Harders, second place Glen Allen and third place Ben Blew. Show 'n' Shine winners announced MYRTLE CREEK -Ross & Anne Nash, 56 Chevrolet Nomad;was voted "Best in Show" at the Show'n'Shine competition held' during the Summer Festival Other overall picks in the show included Frank Corzine,34 Ford as Mayor’s pick; and Dustin Rivera, 70 Chevy Chevelle as People's Choice Class A Cars 1900-1939; Wes Pyevach-38 Buick; Tom Westrup- 28 Ford; Clyde Pyle-33 Ford.
