Our TLC Ministry

 TLC is an acrostic for our Tender Loving Care Groups. These groups meet in homes throughout Douglas County each week. Currently, we have nine TLC Groups. Typically, these groups meet on a weekday night for about 90 minutes (including refreshments). The atmosphere in these groups is informal and user- friendly.
We have found that meeting in homes during the week provides a refreshing alternative to meeting at the church building. Each TLC Group has a
host\hostess, leader and co-leader. They form the nucleus of a TLC group. The average size of a TLC Group ranges from 8-15. Each group provides its own child-care and no one group has the same way of doing it.

While each TLC group has its own personality and style, most groups have a crowd breaker, singing, sharing a lesson from the Bible, prayer time and usually a surprise or two. It is not uncommon to have a video or audio tape to "mix" things up. One thing common to all TLC groups, there are always refreshments (we use any excuse to eat!).

Currently, the TLC Groups meet on Tuesday (ladies in Roseburg), Tuesday night, Wednesday (three different groups), Thursday night and a teen group on Wednesday night. We have recently begun a pre-teen TLC that meets once a month.

We have found that TLC Groups provide creativity in accomplishing ministry opportunities in this church. For example, our booth at the Myrtle Creek Summer Festival was planned and coordinated by different TLC Groups. Our C.L.A.S.S. ministry is run by various TLC Groups. TLC also provides support, benevolence help, and hospital visitation for those in and out of the groups. TLC is simply a multi-faceted part of life in the Tri-City Church of Christ.
